Craniosacral therapy & SOT— working with the body's natural rhythms
About This Treatment
What is craniosacral therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that assesses and supports the craniosacral system — the membranes and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. It is non-invasive, deeply relaxing, and suitable for patients of all ages.
Craniosacral therapy
Using very light hand pressure — no more than the weight of a coin — the practitioner evaluates the craniosacral rhythm and releases restrictions within the system. Sessions are quiet and still, with most patients finding them deeply relaxing. The technique works subtly with your body rather than applying external force.
Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)
SOT uses specialised wedge-shaped blocks placed under the pelvis to gently realign the sacrum, pelvis and spine using body weight and positioning rather than manual force. It is particularly effective for pelvic imbalance, lower back conditions and spinal structural presentations. SOT complements craniosacral therapy and is often used alongside it in the same session.
Who is it suited to?
Craniosacral therapy and SOT are suited to a wide range of patients including those experiencing headaches, neck tension, jaw pain (TMJ), postural concerns, stress-related conditions, and pelvic or lower back dysfunction. Both techniques are particularly appropriate for patients who prefer a very gentle approach — including infants, children, pregnant women and older adults.
